A Grimsby Girl’s World Tour series of imagined Journeys has featured the Grimsby Girl’s trips to Bogota, Colombia, Outer Space, Tokyo, Japan, Copenhagen, Denmark, Madrid, Spain, Brooklyn, NYC, USA, & Vancouver, Canada.
The Grimsby Girl is my Mum, Muriel May Stone. She never had the opportunity to travel outside the Uk in her lifetime so in this series I take her to places I or my work have visited and enjoyed. I know that she would have loved to see them too!

A Grimsby Girl’s World Tour • Copenhagen 2022
Capturing the essence of Sue Stone’s creative practice: a poignant narrative and a limited colour palette, combine with hand stitch, machine stitch, surface texture, appliqué and paint to create the allusion of a journey to another place and time.
Muriel, the artist’s mother, never travelled outside the UK in her lifetime; here she travels to Copenhagen where her grandson, Sam currently lives. The pair never met as Muriel died 3 weeks before Sam was born.
